Glamorous bedrooms on a budget
Sleep in style with these indulgent but affordable bedroom colour schemes.
“How do I create a luxurious bedroom without the luxury price tag?”
According to our exclusive global survey, 37% of homeowners say that the main bedroom is their top decorating priority when they move into a new home.
It’s no wonder our bedrooms are so important to us – we spend almost half of each day in them, after all. But bedrooms aren’t just a space for sleeping in. They’re also a sanctuary where we can go to relax and leave the cares of the day behind.
Luckily, you don’t need to spend a fortune on designer furniture and lavish fabrics to create a boutique hotel-style bedroom scheme. A dash of paint can be all it takes to transform a bedroom into a glamorous retreat.
Here’s how to get the look:
1) Jewel tones
Deep jewel tones add a sense of exotic decadence to a scheme. Use them on walls in matt finishes for a beautiful, soft effect, or go for gloss on a dressing table or chair to create show-stopping statement pieces.
Which paints? Gulf Blue, Wildflower, Signature Blue, Palace purple
2) Midnight blue
Take your cue from the night sky and paint your walls in darkest blue for a moody, mysterious bedroom scheme that’s also inviting and cosy. Team with mirrored furniture to bounce light around the room and add to the glamorous feel.
Which paints? Arctic Night, Krimson Lake
3) Sophisticated silver
Pale, silvery tones give an elegant, grown-up feel and can be accessorised with almost any other colour. Paint the wall behind your headboard in a darker tone for a strong, grounded look.
Which paints? Universal Grey, Seal Grey
4) Rich red
Red injects instant drama into a room. In a bedroom, it’s a good idea to go for deep, berry tones which are subdued enough to be restful but rich enough to make an impact.
Which paints? Frankly Scarlet, Plum Jam
5) Modern monochrome
Black and white look effortlessly edgy when used together. Choose one for your woodwork and the other for your walls for a smart look. If you’re feeling experimental, why not try out different paint effects? Stripes or an ombre effect fading from black to white will give your scheme cutting-edge appeal.
Which paints? Deep Onyx, Winter Hills
Top tip
Team white bed linen with plush throws and velvet cushions for an affordable boutique hotel-style finishing touch.
