Say hello to spring with vibrant yellow

For Indians, vibrant yellow is symbolic of sunny new beginnings

The festival of Vasant Panchami, sometimes referred to as the Festival of Kites, is a celebration that marks the end of winter and the start of spring, as well as the Holi season.

During these joyful celebrations everything bursts with brilliant yellow, especially the mustard yellow flowers that bloom in abundance across India. Women adorn themselves with marigold saris and make offerings of yellow flowers to Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge and arts, while young and old alike flock to the streets to feast on sweet kesar halwa adorned with cardamom and saffron. But it’s not just during Vasant Panchami that yellow symbolises new beginnings; all year round in India, yellow stands for renewal, optimism and the vibrancy of life.
